Our Story

The Mount Beauty Market has been a much-loved part of life in the Upper Kiewa Valley since 1979. For more than four decades, locals and visitors have wandered down to the end of Hollonds Street to enjoy the sights, sounds and community spirit of this iconic market.

For many of those years, the market thrived thanks to the incredible dedication of Bev Bantick and the Mount Beauty Uniting Church, whose care and commitment kept the market running strong. Bev’s passion and hard work created something truly special — a place full of colour, connection and memories for generations of locals and visitors alike.

In 2022, Bev and the Uniting Church finished their time with the market, passing the baton to a new generation of locals. The market moved to Hydro Park, where today, it continues to evolve under the guidance of Mount Beauty Market Inc. — a passionate, independent committee of community members who are proud to carry on this much-loved tradition.

While the location and faces have changed, the heart of the market remains the same: a friendly, welcoming space that celebrates local business, creativity and community spirit — and brings the Upper Kiewa Valley together every month.
